Essex County GOP endorses Matt Doheny

The Essex County Republican Committee has endorsed Watertown banker Matt Doheny to run against Congressman Bill Owens in this fall's election.

My pal Nathan Brown at the Adirondack Daily Enterprise has an in-depth look at all of the GOP's endorsements.

Doheny and Lake Placid accountant Doug Hoffman are vying for the GOP nomination. Bill Owens is hoping for another three-way race, as Hoffman has indicated he'll pursue the Conservative Party nod and run as a third-party candidate if he fails to garner Republican support.

I've reached out to Essex County GOP Chairman Ron Jackson and hope to hear back from him today. If I do, we'll hear more about his committee's reasoning for selecting Doheny during tomorrow's broadcast.
