Rick Lazio announced today he's picked up endorsements from a pair of North Country Assembly members.
Janet Duprey and Teresa Sayward both pledged their support for the former Long Island Congressman in his bid for governor.
Here's what Sayward had to say:
"It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I endorse Rick Lazio for Governor. Rick is a life-long Republican with strong fiscally conservative values that people are looking for in government today. He has a message that is believable and will resonate with all voters. With Rick Lazio as our candidate the Republican Party will again have a strong leader in Albany who will focus on stopping wasteful spending and creating jobs as his plan to make New York State truly the Empire State once again."
And here's Duprey's statement:
"I am pleased to support Republican Rick Lazio for Governor. Rick has an excellent record of fiscal conservatism, and he fully understands the only way New York State can recover from the current fiscal crisis is to stop spending. He has the energy and enthusiasm to work hard on behalf of our residents and businesses as we rebuild the state’s economy. Rick has the right message, the right credentials, and he is the right person to be our Governor."
And for good measure, we'll throw in Lazio's response:
"I am honored to have the support of Assemblywoman Sayward and Assemblywoman Duprey. We need to bring sweeping and fundamental change to New York Government, and we will start by reducing spending, lowering taxes, and creating jobs in the North Country and throughout New York. Their support adds more momentum to my campaign and I am confident we will prevail in November."
